Budget Vote
May 14, 2013 Please be sure to vote on the 2013-2014 school budget and one school board member on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 from 12 Noon until 8 p.m. in the HS Gym lobby. You will also be asked to vote on the purchase of a school bus with monies from the bus reserve fund. We hope that after you vote you will participate in our exit survey on the topic of a school merger, which will be available to you by paper survey, or by computer.
Mayfield art students prove to be a force to reckon with
May 14, 2013 Despite cut-backs to the MCS art program and the cancellation of the Fulton County Art Show this year, students in Mr. Lebediker's and Mr. Kent's art classes took top awards at many regional and national art shows.
Fourth Annual Learning Fair Announced
May 14, 2013 On May 16, Mayfield Central School will be hosting the Fourth Annual Learning Fair. The even will be at the Elementary School and will showcase the creative work of our students from grades K-12. The event is 6:00-7:30.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month
May 10, 2013As
part of Mental Health Awareness month, students are invited
to participate in a variety of activities promoting Wellness
and Mental Health. Throughout the Month of May, at the
Mayfield Junior High and High School, activity tables will
be set up in the cafeteria for student.
Two candidates file petitions to run for a seat on the Mayfield Board of Education
On May 21, voters in the Mayfield School District will be asked to select one Board of Education member to serve a five-year term caused by the expiration of term for Teresia Davis.
Two candidates have chosen to run for this seat: Joan Scannell and Frederick Castigilione(click to view profiles).
Mayfield 2013-14 Budget Newsletter is available
Voters will go to the polls on May 21, 2013, to vote on the MCS proposed budget of $16,766,061. This represents a spending decrease of 3.59 percent, and would carry a tax levy increase of 3.5 percent.

Mayfield Board of Education adopts budget proposal for 2013-14
Mar. 28, 2013 The Mayfield Central School Board of Education adopted a proposed $16,766,061 million budget for the 2013-2014 school year during Wednesday's Board of Education meeting at the Mayfield High School Library.

Williamsen to retire in June

During the January Board of Education
meeting, MCS Superintendent Paul Williamsen submitted a
letter of retirement. Williamsen has been at the Mayfield
helm for five years.
The board will officially accept his letter during the Feb.
19 BOE meeting. They will begin their search with the intent
of appointing a new superintendent in July.
“It has been my honor to serve the Mayfield School
Community. We have wonderful students and a great faculty,
staff, administration and Board of Education. I hope I was a
positive influence at MCS,” said Mr. Williamsen, adding that
he is looking forward to spending more time with his family
upon retirement.

Elementary students holding coin drive for victims of Hurricane Sandy
Nov. 19, 2012 The teachers at Mayfield Elementary School recently had conversations with their students, in an age appropriate manner, on hurricanes. Conversations ranged from the basics of a storm in our primary classrooms to the mass devastation they can bring in our upper elementary classrooms. Students wanted to help so we decided on the coin drive. The next step was finding an appropriate place to donate to so that the money gets right to the people who need it most, that’s when we found the Empire State Relief Fund, a fund designed specifically to help families rebuild homes damaged by the storm. “I’m proud of the children of Mayfield. This school and community take pride in teaching children to care and help others in need of assistance when they truly do need it. Mayfield is a community built on support of one another. The residents of this community treat one another like family and have consistently supported one another through tough times and tragedies. Now we will demonstrate to the people of downstate that we care for people beyond our community.”

Mayfield has confirmed case of whooping cough
Sept. 21, 2012 One case of
pertussis, also known as whooping cough, has been confirmed at Mayfield
Jr./Sr. High School. The district is notifying all parents in the
district of the diagnosis, and providing them with information on the
symptoms of pertussis along with recommendations from the New York State
Department of Health.
